We’re looking for an Extremely Talented Part-Time Office/ Events/ Digital Media Assistant in Sydney – please pass on!

By

This year looks set to be a very interesting – perhaps transitional – period for my organizations Future Exploration Network and Advanced Human Technologies. While they currently function as highly virtual firms with only a small core team, they may start to grow more as we do larger projects and also get involved in some online ventures. Our strategy is to largely hire people in part-time roles, which gives us access to a whole pool of students, parents, enterpreneurs, and deviants who find it hard to get stimulating and challenging work within their constraints, and keeps us fluid and flexible.

We’ll be advertising a couple more roles in the next little while. For now please pass on this ad to anyone who you think might be interested – thanks!

Extremely Talented Office/ Events/ Digital Media Assistant – Part-Time

Media | Internet | Strategy| Events | Future : Work in a boutique international firm in a highly diverse role including administration and using your talents

We’re looking for a very special junior for this unusual, diverse and flexible role. The right candidate will thrive in an extremely demanding environment.

You will be working as part of a small team working across two organisations: Future Exploration Network, which helps large companies build strategy for the long-term future and runs the annual Future of Media Summit, and Advanced Human Technologies, which consults on business networks and relationships. You will also help support the organisations’ Chairman/ CEO Ross Dawson, who works globally as a futurist and keynote speaker, and has been named one of the 40 biggest players in Australia’s digital age.

The core of your work will be administration, including accounts, organisational systems, maintaining databases and data entry, and supporting event management activities.

Our expectations are that these tasks will be done efficiently and perfectly. However we are also looking for someone that can contribute beyond these administration tasks and rapidly grow in their role.

Essential attributes include:

* Perfection (or as close as humans can get…) in all work and EXTREME attention to detail

* Great organisational capabilities and experience with office administration

* Outstanding ability with PC applications

* Deep interest in technology and the future

* Ability to self-start and work highly independently, sometimes from home, as well as within a tight team

Special other talents that would be very cool and highly valuable include:

* Graphic design/ Visuals

* Deep Web 2.0 practitioner

* Flash/ Video

* PR/ Writing

* Media industry expertise

* Research and analysis

Successful candidates with these or related skills could expect to gradually spend more time on these activities, given completion of all administration tasks.

You will be working in a very small office. The role is envisaged to be for 16 – 30 hours per week, some of which can sometimes be done from home. Hours are flexible and will vary from week to week, though will need to coordinate with the company’s key executive. The primary workplace is in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, so it is preferable that candidates are in easy access. It will be a strong advantage if the candidate has their own transport and laptop computer.

The intention is for the person in this position to rapidly learn and develop their capabilities.

The successful candidate will be paid up to A$20 an hour, with possible exceptions for a truly exceptional applicant. Certainly, whoever is right for this role can expect increases in pay and responsibilities over time.
