Leadership for Accelerating Change

The pace of change has never been this fast, and it will never be this slow again. This program gives leadership teams the frames and practices to lead organizations and people at the pace of their environment, and to turn accelerating change into opportunity.

Audience: executive teams and senior leadership groups.

Key content

  • The shape of accelerating change. The forces compounding across technology, industries, and society, and what they mean for the organization’s next five years.
  • Requisite variety. Only those as adaptable as their environment have any real choice. What that demands of leaders, structures, and decision processes.
  • Experimentation and learning. Building the conditions in which teams try, learn, and adapt faster than the environment moves, including the governance that enables transformation rather than blocking it.
  • Humans + AI leadership. Leading organizations where human and AI capability compound, and the leadership behaviours that make that work.

Outcomes

  • A shared frame for change. Common language and models across the leadership team for the change the organization faces.
  • Leadership priorities. Where the team’s leadership attention and behaviours need to shift, agreed.
  • Adaptive practices. Specific practices for experimentation, learning loops, and decision speed the team commits to.
  • Personal commitments. Each leader’s own commitments for the next quarter.

Example

The executive leadership team of a major US retailer wanted to strengthen how it thinks about and leads into the future. Ross ran a leadership session in three parts: structured future thinking, from seeing the system as a whole and backcasting to scanning for early signals and questioning assumptions; the information and decision practices that keep leaders effective amid overload, including timeboxing, Bayesian thinking and red-teaming; and the major shifts toward 2040 the company should be thinking about now. Each part closed with the leaders’ own application questions.

Formats

Single session (one to two hours), half-day or full-day workshop, or a multi-session cohort program, in person or virtual. Part of Executive education and leadership development.
