Good article and I would agree with Tom, networks say they want to be multi-platform, trans media or whatever but they have to stump up, it is more expensive. Out of frustration we piloted our own self funded interactive LIVE fast paced TV quiz show over 10 days, 3 hours per day on Sky TV in UK. We perfected the tech, players were literally in the game, they could see where they lived, see their avatar on TV, see themselves in leaderboards etc playing along on their computer or smart phone while watching the live tv show. We ran free play and pay play modes with amazing conversion rates! See some footage https://www.youtube.com/user/trivialaTV#p/u/3/en0DElZQnOI

Couldn't agree more. Where you get a tiny % of a TV audience getting involved in "Social" TV (i.e. they talk about it if and when inspired), a whole new genre of 2-Screen TV awaits which will engage large portions of the audience to get involved. It's all down to creative and commercial ambition on the part of the broadcasters though - they need to be asking for this stuff and be prepared to pay for it because it's a bit more expensive than normal TV.
