I had never thought about some of these issues. Just this morning I was frustrated because my computer crashed on me and I had no other means of taking down information. My laptop is also more difficult to tote around, especially when I’m trying to bring over-sized books or other bulky items with me. I also liked your comments about using paper instead of technology. My computer, which is supposed to make my life easier, can never compare to the simplicity and functionality of pen and pencil.

Yes there is plenty you can’t do or do well on an iPad. But I’m mainly just wanting to write and lightly edit documents when I’m out, so it’s perfect for me.

You’re right solid state drives will help and the MacBook Air has many of the advantages of the iPad. I’m sure we’ll look back on the laptops we’ve had up to now as clunky ugly beasts…

That’s a fair point, Ross. Besides which, the duct tape really doesn’t do
much for the aesthetics!

BTW, where did you find your combo case? I’ve been searching for something
like that.
