This new communication technology is just part of the evolution of PR. PROs should embrace the power and ability to have instantaneous feedback from their audience. Engagement of this kind shows transparency, which sustains that all important reputation.
I'm currently writing an essay on the implications of new communications technology(Web 2.0, portable online devices) for PR practitioners, and I have found that the positives way out all the slightly negative points. We are all still on a learning curve, and so there is bound to be pitfalls.
I agree, one should move with the times.

I think use social media as we all should. I am conviced it is and it will become a really powerfull media, that needs to have its place in the marketing mix.
Undoubtedly it is not everything and other medias shouldn´t be neglected, but it has a certain impact in and on business.
In short, one should move with the time.
