You’re right, that is the bigger part of it. However many people are just understanding the power of these kinds of analysis, and they find it shocking. They should, but they shouldn’t be surprised…

I don’t think the surprise or issue is with the process or with leveraging social network analysis for intelligence insights. It’s with the methods by which the data was collected, and the seemingly secretive collusion with US based corporations to access records that were perceived to be “private”.
