Even though the data doesn’t suggest that “retailers are engaged in entirely new approaches to promotion and engaging with their customers”…it still shows that most of them understand how social media can support their existing marketing distribution channels.

I don’t see mass adoption by the more traditional bricks and mortar businesses, they will continue to hold onto the old business models till the their profits margins dwindle to unsustainable levels. Then they will blame globalisation, the government etc, etc as companies that embrace the evolution prosper.

Sometimes you really can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
