Branding, marketing, collaborations, connectivity, blah, blah… but that’s not what’s REALLY happening at a core level. Most people aren’t being honest about social media. Why? Well, it so deeply ties into someone’s sense of identity and purpose. The people who were marginalized in high school, or were relatively faceless in high-school, are the ones fueling social media.  They’re finally the ones getting attention for the first time in their lives. I’m noty saying that’s bad, but you’re actually witnessing grown, mature adults act like children.

If anything, social media has exposed just how sorry of a state people are in on a mainstream level. I mean, seriously, the need for attention is so strong that people are willing to throw logic completely out the window. People don’t even know the half of the consequences they’ll be dealing with because of social media.

It makes no sense to evaluate the merits of a new medium based on a previous medium. Socrates was against writing, Martin Luther against the printing press etc.
